Xcr

The XCR range, which stands for eXtreme raCeR, is Van Rysel's dedicated time trial range. The faster you ride, the more you have to battle air resistance as it fights your acceleration. The XCR range is at the cutting edge of research in terms of aerodynamics. All of the products have been designed in a digital simulation and then tested in a wind tunnel. We compare our products to be sure that the cyclists who place their trust in us always get the very best product we can create.

Aerodynamics with swiss side

We've developed this helmet's aerodynamics with our partner Swiss Side.

Visors

The XRC helmet comes with two visors: - A tinted visor (category 3) for time trials in sunny weather - A transparent visor (category 0) for time trials in cloudy weather The visor clips on using a magnet and can be turned around and attached to the helmet at the end of a race. Both visors are made from polycarbonate and provide UV protection

Visor or sunglasses for better performance?

We want to provide you with objective data to help you choose your racing equipment. So, here are the data that we've verified in two different wind tunnels with different wind speeds and angles ranging from 0 to 20°. There is no significant difference in terms of aerodynamics between helmets with and without a visor under 35 km/h.Above this speed, the visor provides an exponential energy gain as velocity increases.

Ventilation

The XCR helmet's removable ventilation has been positioned in a high-pressure zone that doesn't change the helmet's aerodynamics. We know that it's important to cool the body, and the head in particular, to produce the best performance. We therefore recommend riding with the vents open and, in very warm weather, wearing sunglasses instead of using the visor.

Aerodynamics and position

This helmet's aerodynamics have been designed to be extremely effective in headwinds up to an angle of 10° and at speeds of 45 km/h or more. The faster you ride, the closer your headwind gets to 0°, no matter its actual angle and strength. This helmet is optimised to be used with aero bars when the cyclist is holding their head so that they're looking straight ahead.

Return conditions (specific to ppe)

This helmet is personal protective equipment (PPE), so its protection will depend on the condition of your helmet. We can only accept helmets returned in new condition. If your helmet doesn't suit you, please return it with the user guide and tags.

How long helmets last

Helmets don't last forever. To ensure maximum safety, we recommend replacing your helmet at least every 5 to 7 years. It is important to store it in its case, in a dry, cool place away from sunlight. Extreme temperatures will deteriorate the helmet's foam more quickly. After a significant impact, it is essential to replace your helmet, since it may no longer be effective if there are cracks inside the structure.
